COUNTY TO DEMOLISH LUMBER BUILDINGS.(CAPITAL REGION)

Saratoga County intends to tear down a couple of pieces of its lumbering past here.

Three buildings on county forests lands west of Northway Exit 17 have reached such a point of decay that at least two of them have to be torn down, Public Works Commissioner Joseph Ritchey told the Buildings and Grounds Committee.

The buildings on Spier Falls Road housed county lumbering operations when county crews cut down trees on the 3,000 acres of forest lands that the county owns. The county now contracts with private timber firms to harvest trees.
